Installing Vantage

Step-by-step guide to installing Vantage AI Feed Optimizer on your Shopify store

Last updated: 6th June 2026

Installing Vantage

Adding Vantage to your Shopify store takes about a minute. Here's what to expect at each step.

Prerequisites

Before you install, make sure you have:

  • An active Shopify store on any plan (Basic, Shopify, Advanced, or Plus).
  • A staff account with permissions to install apps and manage products. If you're the store owner, you're all set.

Step 1: Find Vantage in the Shopify App Store

Search for "Vantage AI Feed Optimizer" in the Shopify App Store, or use the direct link from our website. Click Add app to begin.

Step 2: Review permissions

Shopify will ask you to approve the following access scopes:

PermissionWhy Vantage needs it
read_productsRead your product catalog to audit and score it
write_productsWrite AI readiness scores back to product metafields
read_product_listingsAccess published product listings for complete data
ℹ️
Note

Vantage only writes to its own app-reserved metafield namespace (vantage). It will never modify your product titles, descriptions, prices, or any other existing data.

Click Install app to grant permissions and complete the OAuth flow.

Step 3: Automatic setup

Once installed, Vantage handles the rest automatically:

  1. Metafield definitions registered — Vantage creates its metafield definitions under the app-reserved vantage namespace so scores are stored directly on your products.
  2. Catalog sync begins — Your entire product catalog is synced using Shopify's bulk GraphQL API.
  3. Products audited — Each product is scored across all 9 dimensions as soon as sync completes.
  4. Dashboard ready — You'll see your overall score, distribution charts, and top suggestions.
⚠️
Warning

Initial sync time depends on your catalog size. A store with 25 products syncs in seconds. Larger catalogs (500+ products) may take a few minutes. You can watch progress on the dashboard.

What gets created

On install, Vantage registers ten metafield definitions on your products (eight are reserved for upcoming features). The two written by the current version are:

  • vantage.ai_readiness_score — The composite AI readiness score (0-100)
  • vantage.last_optimized — Timestamp of the last score update

These appear in your Shopify admin under product metafields and can be used in Liquid templates, custom storefronts, or third-party integrations.
