Product Cost Issues

Having trouble with product costs? Here are solutions to common problems.

Cost Not Saving

Problem: You enter a cost but it doesn't save.

Solutions:

  1. Ensure you click Save after entering the cost
  2. Check for validation errors (costs must be positive numbers)
  3. Refresh the page and try again
  4. Clear browser cache

Wrong Cost Showing

Problem: The cost displayed doesn't match what you entered.

Solutions:

  1. Check if the product has multiple variants with different costs
  2. Verify you're looking at the correct variant
  3. Check if currency conversion is affecting the displayed value
  4. Review cost history to see if it was changed

Cost Not Applying to Orders

Problem: Orders show $0 COGS even though costs are set.

Solutions:

  1. Costs only apply to orders placed after the cost was set
  2. Check that costs are set at the variant level, not just product level
  3. Trigger a manual sync to refresh data
  4. Verify the product in the order matches the product with costs

Bulk Cost Update Issues

Problem: Bulk updates aren't applying correctly.

Solutions:

  1. Ensure all selected products are compatible with the update
  2. Check for error messages after the bulk operation
  3. Wait for the bulk operation to complete (check progress indicator)
  4. For large updates, try smaller batches

Cost History Missing

Problem: Can't see historical cost data.

Solutions:

  1. Cost history is only available from when you started using CostSync
  2. Check the date range selector
  3. Historical costs are preserved when updated - check the cost history panel

Variant-Level Costs

Problem: Different variants need different costs but showing the same.

Solutions:

  1. Click into the product detail view
  2. Expand the variants section
  3. Set costs individually for each variant
  4. Don't use "Apply to all variants" if costs differ

Supplier Currency Conversion

Problem: Costs in supplier currency aren't converting correctly.

Solutions:

  1. Verify the supplier's currency is set correctly
  2. Check the current exchange rate in Settings
  3. Manually refresh exchange rates
  4. For fixed rates, set them in supplier settings
