Understanding order profit calculations in CostSync

Orders & Profit
CostSync automatically calculates profit for every order in your Shopify store.
How Profit is Calculated
For each order, CostSync calculates:
Gross Profit = Revenue - COGS
Where:
- Revenue = Order total (items + shipping collected - discounts)
- COGS = Sum of (Quantity × Unit Cost) for each line item
Order List
The Orders page shows:
- Order number and date
- Customer name
- Revenue amount
- COGS total
- Profit amount
- Profit margin percentage
Order Details
Click any order to see:
- Line-by-line cost breakdown
- Per-item profit margins
- Shipping cost applied
- Discount impact
- Historical cost values (what the cost was at order time)
Margin Alerts
Orders with low margins are flagged:
- Red - Below minimum threshold (e.g., less than 10%)
- Orange - Warning zone (e.g., 10-20%)
- Green - Healthy margin (e.g., greater than 20%)
Configure thresholds in Settings.
