Understanding order profit calculations in CostSync
Last updated: 26th August 2026
Orders & Profit
CostSync automatically calculates profit for every order in your Shopify store.
How Profit is Calculated
For each order, CostSync calculates:
Gross Profit = Revenue - COGS
Where:
- Revenue = Order total (items + shipping collected - discounts)
- COGS = Sum of (Quantity × Unit Cost) for each line item
Order List
The Orders page shows:
- Order number and date
- Customer name
- Revenue amount
- COGS total
- Profit amount
- Profit margin percentage

Reviewing Margins
CostSync shows the profit margin percentage for each order and includes margin analysis in its reports. Use those views to identify low-margin orders and investigate their cost breakdowns.
